Wherever we go, Scamp, our faithful Cavalier, likes to join and has been game for adventure since he was a tiny pup.
That’s why it was so important for us to provide a good experience for dogs at Easthaven and why we are always on the hunt for dog-friendly places. Here are our top 5 favorites in the Northern Neck so far:
1) Westmoreland State Park
We love this park for many, many reasons, but the hiking trails and beach are the top of the list for Scamp. He loves to be with his people and his people love the water, so we all spend a lot of time combing the beach for shark’s teeth and he is there for the sun and surf.
2) Northern Neck Brewery
After everyone is tuckered out from the beach, we love stopping by Nothern Neck Brewing Company for a pint and a bite where we can sit outside and often listen to live music. We love everything they have on tap, especially the IPAs and their totchos can’t be beat.
3) Tom Rhodes’s Enchanted Forest
We also adore taking Scamp and the kids to Tom Rhodes’s Enchanted Forest. A lovely walk in the woods during any season, the kids get so excited finding trees and Scamp is right there with them.
4) Fischer’s Roadhouse Cafe
We love taking the whole family here too for lunch or dinner. They are in the process of moving from their food truck to the barn, both are super close to Easthaven. It’s all open air and their food is great! Our favorites are the cheese curds and açaí bowls, but it’s hard to choose.
5) The Water and Boat Rides
Scamp is the opposite of a water dog, but his desire to be with his people overrides that and he tolerates a paddleboat ride, kayak or SUP ride. Easthaven has all of the boats to see if your pup is sea worthy. Our friends’ dogs love jumping off the dock and the easy access via the steps and they will spend hours in the water.
